My Review:

Longlegs excels in creating a spine-tingling atmosphere that grips you from beginning to end. The film’s tone, music, and visuals combine to build a constant sense of dread and unease, making every scene feel tense and suspenseful. Although it leans more toward an FBI investigative thriller rather than pure horror, the few horror elements sprinkled throughout are highly effective and add to the film’s chilling vibe. Although there are some cheap jumpscares that I didn’t enjoy, there aren’t that many so they didn’t get annoying.

The acting is strong overall, with Nicolas Cage delivering a standout performance. He brings a creepy, unsettling energy to his role that feels fresh yet reminiscent of some of his previous characters. His presence on screen is both engaging and eerie, fitting perfectly with the film’s dark tone.

The film is a slow burn, which I don’t mean as a negative aspect. While the pace is deliberate, it’s not boring. Instead, the slow build-up adds depth and suspense, allowing the plot and visuals to fully immerse you. It keeps you hooked, making you eager to see how the story unfolds.

The only aspect I find as a negative is that the movie does end somewhat abruptly. After such a carefully crafted build-up, the conclusion felt a bit rushed, leaving me wanting more closure. Despite this minor drawback, “Longlegs” is a solid atmospheric investigative thriller that delivers on its promise of suspense and intrigue.

My Rating: 3.5/5
